ENTREPRENEUR GALA EVENT RAISES €230,000 FOR WAR CHILD

Over €230,000 was raised on behalf of War Child at the Ondernemersgala Den Haag 2010 [The Hague Entrepreneur's Gala Event 2010]. War Child ambassador, Marco Borsato, and six of The Hague's War Child City Ambassadors were presented with the cheque on Saturday evening, 27 March, by city councillor Frits Huffnagel and gala chairman Wilbert Stolte. The money was raised from the proceeds of a special War Child auction, as well as the sale of seating tickets in the Atrium in The Hague City Hall.

The gala event celebrated its fifth anniversary with around six hundred Hague-based business owners who enjoyed a five-course dinner and performances by artists including DI-RECT. This year's dinner was presented by top Hague-based chefs Cees Helder, Paul Fagel, Ruben van Dieten, Pierre Wind, Eric Tas and Nicolas Belot. Taat & de Regt – one of the event's main sponsors – took care of the finer culinary details together with the top chefs and students from the ROC Mondriaan regional college.

The Hague has officially been War Child City since September 2009. For a year, the city has been and will be championing War Child's causes in variety of ways. A large number of activities are being supported by media and corporate partners, and six well-known ambassadors from The Hague – Tim Akkerman, Lex Immers, Jessica Mendels, Soumiya Abalhaya, Dennis Weening and Pierre Wind.
